Winter season 2021 results

The 2020-2021 winter season has become one of the most stressful in recent years in terms of climatic conditions, but the WHSD operational services readily accepted the challenge.

The total volume of snow removed from the WHSD territory this winter amounted to 27,530 cubic meters or almost 1,400 dump trucks. If one decided to build a hill out of it, then it would be as high as a 10-storey building.

By the end of the season, the vehicles, involved in the road cleaning process, covered a total distance of 510 thousand km, which is 12 times more than the Earth’s equator length. More than 520 613.95 liters of fuel were consumed.

During the period of the constant snowfall, the WHSD is cleaned 24/7 with the help of 80 people and more than 30 units of special vehicles.

The consumption of anti-icing materials used during the cleaning process had to be more than doubled compared to the previous season. The highest daily consumption of anti-icing materials fell on the pre-holiday weekend, March 6. On that day, 382 tons of reagents were distributed along the highway.
